Dear Treasure,
Today, I went on a hike to Eaton Canyon Falls. Walking around the corner and seeing the waterfall after a long way up was awesome. It reminded me that sometimes what we’re working towards is around the corner, even if we can’t see it.
As we stopped for lunch, I noticed a lot of writing in the tree in front of us.
While carving trees is not encouraged anymore, it did make me think about how there were people looking at the same tree as me celebrating their love and marking their moment. I don’t know if these people are even still together but as they carved their initials into the tree, they were celebrating something they wanted to remember and something about this feels beautiful and human. And I thought about this as I ate my little sandwich on nearby rock.
The falls were just stunning. It left me without words in a way that was almost startling. I wondered what there was to say about something so big and gorgeous in the midst of the hardship throughout the world. I felt like my mind was a blank piece of paper trying to decide what to think about it all. The waterfall and the initials in the tree reminded me of the beauty still persisting all around us.
Did you experience something beautiful this week?
