Dear Treasure,
I’m writing to you from our old green couch near a dear friend of mine. We’re winding down after a big weekend. Yesterday, Alexa (the fearless publisher), Wendy (the amazing owner of Callisto Tea House), and I threw a party to celebrate my new book of poems finding its way onto bookshelves this week. We drank tea, communed with one another, and shared stories of both grief and perseverance.
It was a funny feeling to read so many poems last night. Normally, I read at an open mic where I share one or two poems before sitting down and cheering on the next artist. But last night, it was just me up there reading!
It was daunting BUT looking out in the crowd and seeing so many faces full of love and readiness to listen, I felt less afraid. The audience was full of my family, my friends, my neighbors, artists, dancers, and even my local librarian! I was so thankful that they were there. One of my friends drove all the way from Stockton to be there last night! (Thanks, Kelsey! 😘)
After I read poems, I got to sit at the table and sign books. I couldn’t believe people wanted me to sign their books! I was so happy. I felt like I was floating!
My favorite part was getting to gather with so many wonderful people. I love throwing a good party with lots of bear hugs and good food and tea.
What are you celebrating this week? 💌
I'd love to hear from you—leave a comment or reply to this email. 📝
Thanks for being here,
Ash
